God Doesn’t Always Work Around It

We all wish we had an "easy button."
Do you remember those? From Staples—the little red button that would say “That was easy.”
Unfortunately, most of our experiences have felt opposite of what…I know for me it has.

When I gave my life to Christ, things didn’t get easier—they got harder.
I had 20+ years of selfish habits to unlearn. And now I was being called to resist them.
That’s not a light switch. That’s a fight that still continues.

So many of us wish we could take a detour around potential or actual hardship.
We’d rather show up late to the destination than sit in traffic.
We want an “easy button.”

But when we look at Scripture, God doesn’t always work that way.
He used Joseph inside the prison.
He allowed Daniel to be taken into the lions’ den.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the fiery furnace.

And now...
Maybe your furnace looks like financial stress.
Maybe your lions’ den is isolation or relational disappointment.
Maybe your prison is a sickness that won’t go away—or a mental battle that’s got a grip on you.

Whatever it is, it’s natural to want to escape.
To cry out: “God, get me OUT of this!”

But what if He’s doing something inside it?
What if the breakthrough isn’t found in the exit, but in the endurance?

Whether your situation is big and overwhelming or subtle and lingering—it’s worth asking:
“God, what are You doing here?”

Just like He asked Elijah in the cave, maybe He’s asking you to pause and listen.
Not for a way around the pain…
But for a way through it.

This got me fired up to persevere for my namesake, Christ! I hope it does for you as well!
