Set Apart, Not Set Aside

Love this weeks message as it speaks to all of us in our different stages of lives & circumstances. But before we jump in wanted to shout out how y’all crushed the Hillsdale College poll last week! Might have to make the “did you know?” segments a bit more tough haha

Also on February 3rd we begin our 7 Day prayer challenge! Tori poured her heart into creating a video series that will help align our hearts and will with God’s! If you want to join sign up below!

Ever feel like God’s working in everyone else’s life but yours? Like you’re stuck waiting while everyone else is moving forward? Maybe it’s waiting for a work breakthrough? Or hoping to find your person or even just trying to feel any type of direction and purpose in life. You’re not alone—but maybe, just maybe, you’re not being set aside. You’re being set apart.

Throughout scripture, we see people who could have easily felt “set aside,” forgotten, or overlooked. And honestly they probably did have moments like that. But God was doing something much bigger in and through them:

  • Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, wrongfully accused, and jailed for years. What looked like abandonment was actually preparation for him to save an entire nation.

  • Noah was asked to build an ark when rain wasn’t even on the horizon. It probably felt ridiculous at the time, but God was flooding him with purpose (sorry for the pun).

  • Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness—talk about waiting—but God was shaping him into the leader who would deliver His people.

When it feels like you’re stuck, consider this: What is God doing around, in, and through you this year? What may look like a delay or setback could actually be His way of setting you apart for something greater.

God’s plans aren’t always on our timeline, but they are always for our good. He sees you, knows you, and is preparing you—especially in the waiting. And to take this a step further and resist our urge to complain and feed the spiraling thoughts assuming God is not looking out for us.

The other day, sweet Micah wanted some croissants and he was so joyful for the first 5 minutes they were in the oven but then his joy left. He wanted them now. And he chose to be upset while he waited.

How often is that us? We lose our joy in the waiting for God to show up for us. And the sad truth is, all that kicking and screaming isn’t going to change the amount of time that those “croissants” needed to cook. Lets resist the urge to let impatience rob our joy. We don’t have control over how long we wait but we do have control over how well we wait.

Every time we watch a video lesson from Hillsdale we are just blown away by the depth that is in God‘s word! We probably wouldn’t see if it weren’t for amazing resources like what Hillsdale College provides! To learn more parallels in scripture, like how Moses’ name along is connected with his purpose from God, go sign up for Hillsdale’s FREE online courses! So thankful to partner with them!

There was a funny trend on social media last week where you shared photos of you as a toddler!
